The receiver is good and works fine but it is quite loud so you should probably keep this in a cabinet instead of on a desktop as the chassis and psu fan are quite loud. No problem with the device getting warm in a cabinet as it is quite cool throughout my testing even in a hot room.

I will post some images of the install and some of the picture quality of the screen soon, stay tuned.

Please note, this device has PoE so basically it was powering all my cameras with no problem at all, you do need an external monitor (VGA) to view the screen which you can setup to have different views, be sure to set up the correct resolution.

    QUALITY:

The quality of the case is good, it is heavy and does not take up too much room, but I do think that it quite big for its ports, I would have preferred if it was smaller.

The device keeps itself very cool even in a hot room, however the problem with that is that the fans are very loud, it seems that the fans are running on full blast 24/7, it is quite loud so you might not want to keep it on a desktop as it will make you go crazy after a while, the best thing would be a cabinet or server room such as a closet.

It is made of metal and I didn’t notice any problems with the quality of the device itself as it looks great without any blemishes on it at all.

    ACCESSORIES:

Comes with a mouse which is kind of small to use, a power cord and a 1TB Seagate harddrive. I am not sure about the quality of Seagate hard drives in a survellience system but I am sure the drive that it came with is made for a computer and not a CCTV system so I am not sure how long it will last until it fails.

    DESIGN:

The design is good, it is not that long horizontally, but it is higher than expected, I wish it were a bit thinner with the harddrives going side to side instead of up and down on the trays.

    SETUP/SOFTWARE:

I have added a WD Purple 4TB (CCTV drive) in addition to the 1TB Seagate that comes with it and had no problems with the setup, first you need to boot the device and run the setup wizard.

Basically the setup wizard sets up if you wanted to view the cameras online or something like that and it is basically setting up your network and other settings to use with your phone such as some software. I didn’t do the WAN setup due to the fact I only wanted the CCTV locally and not on the internet.

The setup did not detect my 3 cameras intially, 2x from GW security, and 1x Hikvision 3-4mp camera. I had them plugged in via ethernet via PoE. After the setup you are greeted with the main page with several cameras and basically the main menu.

There aren’t that much settings that you can do, but the first thing I did was go to the menu to change the resolution since it was out of sync, after I did that I basically formatted both of the harddrives and reconnected the cameras and BOOM they were indeed connected to the device.

The menus are in english but are kind of hard to navigate, when compared to other NVR’s I have used, this one has moderate features, it is missing some key features that I was unable to find on the NVR.

I wasn’t able to configure the cameras on the NVR, I am guessing you need a computer to configure the cameras, but they worked fine when you plug it in.

Also if you want to use a router with this, you may need to change the static IP on this from 192.168.0.x to 192.168.x.x where x is the IP you want to use.

The recording is OK, it doesn’t use up too much space and the review is OK, but the controls are a bit finiky but acceptable.. It worked with all 3 cameras, so it seems it works with any camera that supports its interface.

Quality is good, no problems with that.

    CONCLUSION:

In the end. this NVR is OK for normal usage, however the turn off for me was the fan, it was way too loud, it was like I had my air conditioner fan blowing at me 24//7, I may try to swap out the fan.

I like that the device runs cool and is able to accept and format any harddrive as well as connect any camera that I had plugged into it which is nice.

In the end, I have more to say about this NVR but I have just kept it to the key points.

I did get this for review, but my review is honest and unbiased.
